Backyard by y-o-s-s-i Backyard by y-o-s-s-i
I promised a lasso-free picture of my Wonder Woman costume and here it is! It's another picture ~NiklasLiebig took of me last September at Connichi. Our little photoshoot happened absolutely spontaneously, so we went to the first spot that came to our minds: The backyard of a hotel close to the con site. I think we found a very fitting location (at least for the first quarter of Odyssey).

Everything seems to fit perfectly and I bet that seeing the whole concept taking form was pretty satisfying. What was the real challenge for you? Choosing the character that "fits you" or choosing the character that suits your personality.

Usually, I watch a show or read a comic first and when I like a certain character (for whatever reason - it may be just the costume design, but often it's their personality), my urge to cosplay as them is rising. Lately, I'm trying to limit my cosplay wishes to those characters I like AND who fit my body type. Obviously, I stretch the term "fit", as I am nowhere nearly as well toned as Diana and much more curvy than Kate Kane etc. But I try to look out for characters who are tall, preferably large-chested and not too young. I could never pull off a skinny teenage school girl...
Few of the characters I choose have much in common with me in terms of personality. Actually, most of them I consider as role models for their courage, self-confidence or strenght. I find it much more interesting (albeit challenging) to cosplay as a character that is much different from me. I'm not a good actress at all, but I try to bring the characters to life in photoshoots and this what I enjoy most about wearing a cosplay. Does this answer your question? :)

Yes, it does answer my question. You nailed it on both Wonder Woman and Batwoman, regardless of body type. Actually, it doesn;t matter at all. Cosplaying is a tool to socialize, to have fun. Otherwise, it is simply stupid.

It does not come to fulfill our egoistic needs. I met lots of fantastic people, cosplay freaks if you know what I mean and they are in it for the pure pleasure of being able to craft something with their own hands and meet interesting people.

Keep doing because what you achieved is extraordinary!
